As We Evolve So Does the Earth
Filed Under Self Help | Comments Off
Bart Sharp asked:
If we look at our primitive cultures, most or all of these people worshiped or revered the earth. They knew the earth gave to them gifts to help them in their daily lives. In return, they revered the earth as a precious commodity. From this gratitude a bond was formed and each flourished in it.
Today we are still stewards of the planet-although most of us do not know it or accept the job. Regardless, the earth is here for us and we for it. When we study the older pagan cultures we see that the rituals created an effect on the group that practiced them: they felt a communion with the earth. The chanting by Tibetan Monks, or beating of drums in rituals has a purpose of connecting us to the earth, as well as healing the earth. The vibration of the sounds changes us and the lands responds to our growth.
We have a symbiotic relationship with the earth. It is a life form that responds to its inhabitants. As we evolve the earth changes. As millions live out their days angry, sad, depressed, anxious, etc… those feeling and thought forms vibrate within to affect the environment.
Our essence is really energy and it is never just contained within the body. Whatever we are emoting the earth and everything else is absorbing. The more we clarify our core essence, the more clarity we have in ourselves. Through our inner exploration, we become an open vessel to give and receive more in our life. We are more conscious, and connect to everything more. When someone who is conscious brings their attention to the space of nature, it creates an expansion for everyone.
The Hopi Indian elders welcome the sun every morning. They believe the sun would not shine on the earth without this invitation. I perceive this ritual as an acknowledgment that the sun, the earth, and humans in communion creates something much bigger than the individual entities. Tibetans believe their chants create a vibration that goes out across the world to facilitate peace.
We are beginning to see that solving the world’s problems begins with us. People have changed tremendously in the last two thousand years. As we identify and resolve our own inner pains and conflicts, we can let go of our personal chains that bind us to a denser suppressed world. As we create and live in harmony with ourselves, we send out that attunement; and all benefit, including the earth. [----]
As we spend time in prayer, meditation, walking in the woods, or other centering activities, we develop what doctors call parasympathetic nervous system in our active life. Doctors say it is related to sleep but an awake parasympathetic energy expands consciousness. It is a place where creative and psychic abilities can be developed. Most people function in the sympathetic nervous system, which is related to all forms of action. Then, when they sleep the parasympathetic is activated. Functioning in the parasympathetic during waking hours brings more of a magical power within us. It is being in an awareness that is relaxed. Nature is functioning in an energy like the parasympathetic.
Being in harmony does not mean that you should avoid the emotions that you are experiencing. If you are angry, fearful or sad it is important to be present with it, process it, and come to resolution with your feelings. One of the main reasons people stay angry or depressed is that they are not getting in touch with their emotions in their present or their past. Those unresolved feelings are like energetic weights that prevent us from evolving to a lighter vibration.
When we can look at our limitations, do work that centers us and seek an intimate connection to the earth, we open to a possibility of a communion with the earth. We become a clear vessel to receive its messages and energies. We and the earth can be a conduit for the expanded energy that is sent out to every one. It is a process of inviting the connection to happen with our planet, receiving the energy of the planet, and then letting it come out of you. It is sending a more conscious human energy out. With the assistance of the planet, the energy is bigger than what we could do as individuals.
Something that has occurred in several cities in the world is that groups of people would meditate around a clock in neighborhoods that had high rates of crime. In all cases the neighborhood crime rates significantly improved. It is called the ‘Maharishi Effect’: if one percent of the population practiced Transcendental Meditation there would be measurable improvements for the entire population of the planet. I find this concept significantly valuable; it is proof that our intention influences everything around us.
One of the techniques that I practice is inviting the earth’s energy to come up into my pelvis and coccyx. I imagine a vast energy in the center of the earth and a stream of it coming up into my pelvis area. I focus on the energy flowing in while it fills my entire body. When I am full I send the energy out through my heart while at the same time maintaining the intensity inside myself. I will send this energy out to the entire city of Austin; everyplace that I can visualize within the area. Generally when I complete these sessions I am feeling more expanded, more grateful to the earth, the city of Austin and myself.
As we evolve, the earth evolves.

Extraterrestrial Life- Living Creatures Beyond our Earth

John W. Martin asked:
Extraterrestrial Life- Living Creatures Beyond Our Earth
http://www.yallways.com
Extraterrestrial life refers to any living matter found beyond Earth’s atmosphere. This can include everything from single-celled organisms on an asteroid to advanced civilizations on other planets. Study of extraterrestrial life has grown over the last several decades, and this field of research is known as astrobiology. Astrobiologists combine elements of astronomy, biology, and geology in their search for life beyond our world.
Centuries of humans have wondered whether extraterrestrial life exists somewhere in outer space. In fact, the earliest theories regarding otherworldly life were proposed by the ancient Greeks. The Greeks postulated that if the universe was infinite, then there could be an infinite number of worlds possessing life. Some early religious texts, such as those from Judaism and Hinduism, also suggest the existence of extraterrestrial organisms. The first modern theorists to suggest extraterrestrial life published works in the 16th and 17th centuries. Many of these scholars faced criticism and persecution from the Catholic Church. However, as astronomical knowledge increased, the theory that extraterrestrial life existed became more credible.
To find extraterrestrial life, one must first establish a definition of what it means to be alive. At its most basic level, a living creature is capable of unassisted reproduction. However, for most scientists, a more thorough set of criteria is required. Since Earth’s organisms provide the only known examples of life, these have become the model for theories regarding extraterrestrial creatures. On Earth, all living beings are formed from the following elements: carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen. Subsequently, these are the elements believed necessary for life. Water is also considered a vital component since all life on Earth requires this basic substance.
Some scientists have recognized the possibility that life on other worlds may not resemble earthly organisms in any way. They propose alternatives to the notion of carbon-based life forms. For example, one popular theory is that extraterrestrial life could be silicon-based. Such organisms would life in high-temperature settings and possess a crystalline form. Another possibility is that life could utilize ammonia as a substitute to water. Finally, some theorize that life could exist inside the plasma of stars.
Some researchers have specifically researched on how extraterrestrial life might look and act. These scholars focus on those characteristics most common in earthly life, such as vision and limbs. The more species on Earth with a certain feature, the more that feature may be found in extraterrestrial life. However, the exact manifestation of these traits would depend on a life form’s natural environment. Gravity, temperature, atmosphere, light, and other variable would impact the form an organism takes. For example, life surviving in a high-gravity setting may have a stronger skeletal structure for support.
Most scientists researching possible extraterrestrial life have had to rely on earth-based data. Thus, they utilize long-range telescope readings and computer projections for most of their data. However, a few extraterrestrial missions have focused on the search for life. These include several recent missions to Mars, like NASA’s Viking rovers and Beagle 2 probe. Scientists believe Mars may once have possessed planetary conditions conducive to supporting life. For example, evidence of water has been round on this planet. Thus, missions to Mars have included soil sampling to test for organic matter. Other probes have investigated several moons in our solar system, including Jupiter’s ice-covered Europa and Saturn’s giant Titan.
Currently, there exists no definitive proof of extraterrestrial life. The only tangible evidence that life might exist beyond Earth comes from microfossil of organisms lodged in meteorites found in Antarctica. However, this data is not conclusive. Thus, scientists continue using a variety of data to speculate on where life might exist and what form it might take.

drop2012 asked:
The Mayan calendar ends on Dec. 21, 2012. They predicted that when the calendar ends the earth will change. This date coincides with the astronimical event when the earth will be in line with the sun and the center of our galaxy (the milky way). At the center of our galaxy is a black hole, the most destructive and strongest force known to scientists. When Earth aligns with these to strong cosmic entities what will happen to people and the planet?

I am the Earth
And the Earth is me.
Each blade of grass,
Each honey tree,
Each bit of mud,
And stick and stone
Is blood and muscle,
Skin and bone.
And just as I
Need every bit
Of me to make
My body fit,
So Earth needs
Grass and stone and tree
And things that grow here
Naturally.
That’s why we
Celebrate this day.
That’s why across
The world we say:
As long as life,
As dear, as free,
I am the Earth
And the Earth is me.
Working on RECYCLING, REDUCING, REUSING all the trash surrounding and it’s a very simple plan,
• Separate the glass and paper,
Separate the plastic and tin.
Take the trash and recycled it to recycling bin!
• Don’t go wasting any products, Use just exactly what needed.
Don’t buy things in extra wrapping, Reduce and get success!
• If it’s a paper bag - Don’t use it once, use it twice!
Give old clothes and toys to someone, To reuse them would be nice!
“EARTH DAY uses one of humanity’s great discoveries”
Human beings have kept their sorrows and their joys, their victories, their aims for re-celebration and re-dedication another year, decade, century and eon.
EARTH DAY reminds the people of the world of the need for continuing care for Earth’s safety.
Recognize and respect Earth’s beautiful systems of balance, between the presence of animals on land, the fish in the sea, birds in the air, mankind, water, air, and land. Most importantly there must always be awareness of the actions by people that can disturb this precious balance.”

Earth Day: the Anniversary of the Forgotten One
Filed Under Environment | Comments Off
Nathalie Fiset asked:
Earth day is celebrated on April 22th . Earth day started slowly in the year 1970 when it was created by the environmentalist movement. On the first official earth day on april 22th 1970, the US senator Gaylord Nelson was one of the first to encourage students to create projects that would have the effect of waking-up the public’s conscience to the serious problems earth is now encountering.
Earth day celebration has been slowly gaining momentum but we can seriously ask ourselves if the damages done to earth by pollution are not acting faster than our reactions. Today, Earth Day is celebrated in over 184 countries by 500 millions worldwide. Throughout the years, earth day has become one of the most important environmental celebration of the year.
What can a person do to celebrate earth day in a significant way? There are so many ways to start making a difference by slowing down pollution and waste of earth’s resources. The first way is to really become aware of the menace that is hanging above earth’s natural resources. Earth’s water, vegetation and animals and air is being polluted and wasted at an accelerated rate. Everyone should get the proper information on pollution, toxic gas emissions, endangered animal and plant species, etc, etc by reading the proper books and visiting web sites dedicated to earth’s preservation.
Earth day can also be celebrated by taking a moment to analyse and review the daily habits we have that can cause damage to nature. Taking small actions like walking or taking a bike instead of using the car for small distances are definitely a step in the right direction. Furthermore, one’s health will greatly benefit from being more active physically.
Earth day is also the ideal occasion to reconsider our wasting habits. Such small measures as not letting the water run uselessly or cleaning the dishes or doing the laundry only when the load is full are all measures that will make a difference in the long run. A very important step is protecting the earth’s resources is to limit our consumption of energy sources. It is a complete non-sense to see high-class stores that are running their air-conditioning systems at full capacities while their front doors are widely opened. Although this tactic is to attract more customers, it should be discouraged by clients bringing their business somewhere else.
As a family doctor, I receive loads of unsolicited mail and advertisement weekly. I have asked my secretary to contact all these magazines and unsolicited mail senders to stop sending me such material that I do not read anyway. The process has proved very long and tedious but it finally paid off and I am now very proud to say we have at least saved one forest by just taking this simple action.
Earth day can be celebrated by many more actions such as planting a tree, giving a contribution to a environmental organism, checking to make sure your government in place is taking solid action to control pollution, etc
Another very important step in earth day celebration is to visit web sites dedicated to saving the earth and participating in their content.

Prof.dr. Ibrahim Khalil asked:
This is a new series (1-28) of Verse No. in the Bible versus the Quran.
Verse No. 28 in the Old Testament says: And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing (creature) that moves on the earth.
Verse No. 28 in the New Testament says: When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
Verse No. 28 in the Noble Quran says: O mankind! worship your guardian-lord, who created you and those who came before you, that you may have the chance to learn righteousness; so that you will be cautious; so that you may guard against evil.
————————
The verse No. 28 in the Old Testament is Genesis 1:28
In article 27, Genesis 1:27 says: God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
In this article, Genesis 1:28 says: And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing (creature) that moves on the earth.
In this verse, we have three dominations or commandments from God to man.
The first domination is: Be fruitful and increase in number
The second domination is: Fill the earth, and subdue it
The third domination is: Have dominion over (Rule over) the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing (creature) that moves on the earth.
————————
The verse No. 28 in the New Testament is Matthew 2:3
In the articles 26-27, Matthew 2:1 says: Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, (in Matthew 2:2): Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
In this article, Matthew 2:3 says:
When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
The verse means that, Herod the king, and all Jerusalem was troubled with him, when he had heard that the Magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying: Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him,

Verse No. 28 in the Noble Quran is 2:21,
Chapter 2 is Surah AL-BAQARA (THE COW),
Verses 2:1-5 are talking about the believers.
Verses 2:6-7 are talking about the disbelievers.
Verses 2:8-20 are talking about the hypocrites.
The address of verses 2:21-24 is general to mankind.
Verse 2:21 says:
O mankind! worship your guardian-lord, who created you and those who came before you, that you may have the chance to learn righteousness(so that you will be cautious)
The meaning of verse 2:21:
O mankind! worship, profess the oneness of your Lord, declare Him as the only One God Who created you, made you as different lineages beginning from a drop of sperm, when you were nothing, and created those that were before you; those who have gone before you, so that you may be fearful, of His punishment by worshipping Him; so that you may ward off His wrath and torment and obey Him. (so that in English is la‘alla in Arabic is essentially an optative that has among its functions the expression of a wish, but when spoken by Allah it denotes an affirmative, asserting the truth).

How is electricity supplied to earth and replenished?
Filed Under Earth Sciences & Geology | 5 Comments
md.pierce asked:
I read probably from my book about thunderstorms that they are partially or completely responsible for replenishing the electricity to earth which is lost due to the earth’s charge loss. I would like to understand the entire cycle first at a basic level. How is this planet supplied with electricity and what are some/all of the replenishing processes?

What will happen to the earth when the sun turns into a brown giant?

Emasculated Britain asked:
Given that the sun’s size will increase, though not its mass, would the earth maintain its current orbital path, be ****** up by the sun, or would it move farther away? Would the sun evaporate the earth’s water? Would the process be swift once the main sequence is ended, or gradual over hundreds of millions of years?

An Asteroid Nearly Missed The Earth On March 2Nd 2009 - Wow That Was A Close Encounter, More To Come?
Filed Under Technology | Comments Off
Stig Kristoffersen asked:
Asteroid DD45 barely missed earth on March 2nd 2009.
If asteroid DD45 has hit the earth, it could have wiped out a whole medium sized city.
The earth got a visit from DD45 on March 2nd 2009 when it passed the earth at a distance of approximately 75000 kilometers away from us.
This is much closer than the distance to the moon from earth, and only around twice the distance the geostationary satellites have from earth.
So it was a pretty close encounter with an asteroid, and its travel through the space can be watched at Spaceweather.com web site and at NASA web site as well.
The size of the asteroid DD45 is around 30-40 meters in diameter, so it’s a small sized object, however it could have created major damage with major local impact upon a hit with the earth, if it had hit urban areas. There would not be a global disaster if DD45 had hit the earth, as it is too small for this. DD45 is comparable to the asteroid which hit the earth in the morning of June 30th 1908 in Tunguska area in Siberia in Russia.
It is pretty common that asteroids comes close to earth, but rarely they hit earth and the chances are marginal that an impact will happen in populated areas of the earth.
Majority of earth surface is not populated and most of its surface is water, so there is a bigger chance it will hit either of these areas versus a populated area.
When the Tunguska asteroid hit the atmosphere with 54000 kilometer pr hour, it heated up the air around it to around 24700 degrees centigrade. The combination of pressure and heat lead to an explosion equivalent to around 180 Hiroshima nuclear bombs according to NASA. 80 million trees were blown over in an area of around 2150 square kilometers, and the impact would have wiped out a large city with no problem.
DD45 was hard to see and it was only reported 4 days before it passed earth (February 28th 2009). This is due to its small size, as we expect larger objects to bee seen in good time before they close onto earth. Most asteroid belts outside the planet Mars is mapped out, and in the year of 2036 a much larger asteroid than DD45 will pass the earth within a distance that will require the attention of experts.
The asteroid is called Apophis, and was discovered some years ago. In the year of 2029, it will pass the earth at a distance were it can hit communication satellites orbiting the earth, while in the year of 2036 it will come even closer that that. The Apophis is around 600 meters in diameter, and will be at the closest range to earth on Friday the 13th 2036. For some people, this has been calculated as the end of the world date. However there is a chance of 1 to 45000 that Apophis will hit the earth according to NASA calculations. However, if the asteroid hits the earth, it will have regional and maybe global effects which can be serious.
The earth has been hit by so called continent breaker before and will be hit again, that is for sure. The ability for experts to detect these objects in space has been enhanced and improves by each year. Whether we are going to be hit in 100 or 1000 years time, is not possible to tell, but we need to prepare as good as we can. Several projects around the globe is occupied with this fact and tries to give us estimates and prognosis’s that will give us time enough to prepare for any potential objects hitting the earth in the future.
Preliminary calculations estimate around 1.9 million asteroids with a diameter of more than 1 kilometer in our solar system alone. The largest detected so far is called Ceres and is estimated to 950 kilometer in diameter. Ceres is at the moment classified as a dwarf planet. More will be know about Ceres when the Dawn spacecraft visits the dwarf planet in 2015. It will explore asteroid 4 Vesta in 2011 before arriving at Ceres.

What are Earth Shoes?
Filed Under Fashion | Comments Off
Stephanie Larkin asked:
Earth shoes first hit the international scene in the early part of the 1970s. In an era when women’s shoes featured high heels, narrow toes and dangerously skinny arches, the odd looking shoes attracted the attention of the fashion world and the popular media. With their wide toe boxes,”negative” heels and rocker bottoms, they were often referred to as the ugliest shoes ever created.
Like most fads and trends, though, earth shoes had their supporters. Created by a family-owned company in Scandinavia, Earth shoes were seen as a healthy and body-friendly alternative to traditional ‘fashion’ footwear. The main feature of the Earth shoe is the ‘negative heel’, created by a thick fore sole and thin heel. The bed of the shoe is designed to place the heel lower than the ball and toes of the foot, which, say Earth shoe enthusiasts, encourages better posture and a more natural gait.
Like walking on the beach
Among the innovations that the original Earth shoes made popular are innovations that have been carried through into many other ‘healthy’ shoe lines, including many of today’s most popular shoes. Those innovations included:
Wide toe boxes. Unlike the most popular shoes of the era, which featured narrow, pointed toes for both women and men, Earth shoes had round; wide toe boxes that made the shoes look similar to a spatula. For a fashion industry used to shoes designed to make feet look small and dainty, the look was bizarre, and more than one design columnist joked that you might as well wear shoeboxes on your feet and toss out the shoes. The wide toe box serves an important purpose. It allows the toes to spread naturally and grip the ‘ground’ as they’re meant to do. Liberating cramped toes alone was enough to make the Earth shoe a popular style.
Negative heel. The second obvious characteristic of the original Earth shoe was the low heel. Not low as in ‘under two inches’, but low as in lower than the toe. The foot bed and sole are built in such a way that when standing flat, the heel of the foot is positioned lower than the ball and toes of the foot. This encourages better posture, according to the makers of Earth shoes, and also encourages the calf and other muscles of the legs to work harder.
The reasoning behind the negative heel has to do with the natural barefoot gait, which is a heel-to-toe motion. The publicity for Earth shoes claims that walking in Earth shoes is like walking on the beach, where the weight of the body pushes the heel down into the sand, and then the foot has to roll”uphill” to push off into the next step. You can check the reality of that statement by looking at barefoot footsteps on the beach.
Rocker bottoms. Rather than flat soles, the Earth shoe featured a molded shoe bottom that rocked the foot forward with each step. Again, the reasoning has to do with the natural human gait. Humans are not meant to place the weight of each step on the ball of their foot. Rather the heel absorbs the impact of the step, then the foot”rocks’ forward as the body’s weight moves to center over it. Finally, the heel comes up off the ground and the toes grip to push off into the next step.
The NEW Earth Shoe
The Earth shoe company stopped making Earth shoes for many years, instead contracting with other shoe manufacturers to make high quality shoes. Recently, the company has begun making their original Earth shoe again, and marketing it internationally. Today’s Earth shoes are available in a wide variety of styles and fashions. Every Earth shoe features the Kalso Negative Heel Technology, which positions the heel at a precise 3.7 degree negative incline in comparison to the toe.
Why 3.7 degrees? The original shoe was designed by a Danish yoga master to simulate the angle of the feet during a traditional Yoga pose. The angle positions the toes higher than the heels, putting the cushioning to the part of the foot designed to bear the weight – the heel. It shifts the body weight back over the heels, putting the body into a more natural, empowered position which triggers an array of whole body benefits.
There are many benefits to the Kalso negative heel technology besides creating better posture. The company also points to anecdotal evidence that seem to suggest that walking and playing in Earth shoes can actually help you burn more calories during every day activities. This is due to the longer heel extension and hip flexion used in walking in Earth shoes. Next time you are looking for a healthy shoe, Earth Shoes can benefit you in many ways. You should feel much better after wearing Earth Shoes.
